the whole weight loss thing.

As of today I have successfully completed 18 consecutive days of dieting and tracking my food in the LoseIt app. I don’t know how or where the motivation came from, but I am really proud of myself. The only thing I am struggling with is HOW BADLY I WANT PIZZA. You don’t really notice how pizza is everywhere until you can’t eat it. It’s all over the internet, it’s on every commercial break, you see the delivery drivers while out and about. It’s the worst.

On the plus side, I do feel like I can see the weight loss. I told myself I wouldn’t weigh myself until day 30 because I thought my starting weight would discourage me. It’ll be nice to know numbers, but for now it’s nice that there is a visible difference.

i am so exhausted.

Yesterday after work I painted the empty bedroom and then moved my room into it. By the time I was all said and done, it was 1am. I didn’t get out of bed until 10am, I slept on and off til then but I was awake for like an hour and a half between 6:30am and 8:00amish.

I went to the store to buy blinds and decorative switch covers. I also painted the window frames and the closet doors. I want to replace the bedroom door so I haven’t decided whether or not I’ll paint that yet. I am going to wait til tomorrow to put up the blinds, I think. My body needs to catch up.

i was (unfortunately) a winter baby.

I was just thinking about how in 2012 it was 70 degrees on my birthday. That was kind of a fluke because I was born during winter and it’s usually snowy and/or cold on my actual date of birth. I just went back through the recorded weather data from 2012 on. It hasn’t been that warm on my birthday since.

We did get a couple of years near 50, including one at about 56. I was actually out of town when that happened. From 2014-2016 I spent my birthdays in warm climates. Puerto Rico, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico. In 2017 and 2018 I couldn’t afford to escape, and this year is no different. I am going to keep my fingers crossed that I get an amazingly beautiful day like I did 7 years ago.

another journal.

I have been using DJ for awhile, but the lack of a phone app and Linux client make it a little difficult to keep up with updating. I am going to use this as a journal, with some public posts and some not. I wanted something Tumblr-esque but without having to be part of a network.

I am a week into trying to lose weight and I have been successful so far. Using LoseIt has made it pretty easy. My Apple Watch also takes the guess work out of knowing how many calories I’m burning as well. It’s pretty amazing how technology can make even the least technological things a hell of a lot easier.
